Tony’s background comes from the Mechanical and Electrical engineering sector, working for institutes such as Birmingham University. He’s a Chartered Safety Practitioner and Qualified Asbestos surveyor, and a National Accredited Fire Risk assessor, holding the European Diploma in this area. Tony has also worked for West Midlands Police in specialist areas where he developed his knowledge for emergency planning and contingency planning. He has a solid all-round knowledge of the safety industry. He’s often called upon as a guest speaker on specific topics and has sat on many steering groups over the years.
Tony is on the Nationally Accredited Fire Risk Assessors Register (NAFRAR). Tier 3 is a list of individuals who are able to carry out Fire Risk Assessments on high risk and complex buildings. They have registered through a process that has recognised their achievement at the highest standards and levels of competency for fire risk assessors that is available.
Tom began working with RM in 2006. Having completed many health and safety courses during his time managing commercial property throughout the UK, in 2014 he embarked on the project to create the Health and Safety Advisory Database (HASAD), our Business Operating Platform and risk management software provision for clients. Tom also set up and assists in the management of the company OHAS18001 and BAFE management systems. Tom’s role today mainly involves management of all RM departments, continued HASAD project management, client contract/account management, TPCB Accreditations, e-learning, service delivery and accounting.
Erik is Head of RM’s Fire Safety Department. His career began as an apprentice, shadowing highly regarded industry fire engineers and safety consultants. After gaining foundation knowledge working in fire safety design, he decided to further his education and training to become a fully competent fire risk assessor. Always expanding on his knowledge and skills, he offers professional fire safety advice, carries out fire risk assessments on almost any type of premises, performs training for fire wardens and building managers, and manages fire safety in complex developments.
Sylwia has a demonstrated history of working in high paced consultancy services. Skilled in team management and staff development, she has successfully managed and trained a team of Legionella consultants working for companies such as BNP Paribas. She has over 10 years’ experience in conducting Legionella Risk Assessments on hot and cold water systems, cooling towers and process systems. Her advanced knowledge and experience in health and safety regulations means she can provide clients with site-specific policy and written support. As a C&G approved trainer, she delivers our Legionella training courses for clients and staff.
Steve joined us in 2009. He was previously a Royal Marine commando where he learned many key skills that he’s brought to RM Risk Management. His disciplined approach to detail and due diligence has meant he manages many special tasks which require a keen eye and detailed methodical approach. Steve has undertaken many internal and external courses over the years and is a valued member of the team always offering a calm influence and delivering projects in a timely manner for clients.
Matt Joined RM in 2011 as an apprentice. At the time, we wanted to have staff who understood our client’s needs and specifically the property management sector, so we decided to take on and train up our own consultant to support the senior consultants. Since then Matt has become a very popular member of the team who knows our business inside out. He undertakes multi-disciplined audits and visits client sites on a regular basis. Currently he is a Graduate at IOSH and working towards his Chartered status having recently completed his final formal qualifications.
Peter chairs the British Standards Technical Committee FSH/24, developing and codifying fire safety engineering practices, as well as representing the UK on European standards committees. He is a former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institution of Fire Engineers. Prior to joining RM, he was an Associate Director at the Fire Protection Association, overseeing the activities of the Fire and Risk Services group, and an Associate Director with a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. His time is mostly spent conducting fire engineering projects, risk engineering surveys and fire risk assessments for a wide variety of clients.
Dr Brian Kirby has been working in Fire Safety Engineering since 1979. He was originally part of a group of researchers within British Steel working on the behaviour on steel framed buildings in fire. He has been a member of BSI for 30 years and is currently the Chairman of the BSI committee responsible for the design Codes BS 9999 and BS 9991, as well as a member of the technical task group responsible for drafting these Codes. Since the early 1980’s Brian has worked in developing fire strategies for buildings.
Noel spent 12 years with the RAF in an engineering career on Tornado front line squadrons. After leaving in 1998, he entered into research and development and worked in assisting a Safe Care Legionella Risk Assessment Division. By 2014, he was the Senior Legionella Risk Consultant for his former employer. Today Noel can be found either conducting training or surveying water systems.
As a Health & Safety Assessor and Technician, Gary joined the team in 2011. He is experienced in site safety and occupational risk management. In addition to his field based services, in 2017 Gary took on the role of Scheduling Manager for RM. He is a big Aston Villa fan and a keen and talented footballer himself.
Andrew joined RM part time in 2014 and became full time in 2018 after graduating from the University of Leeds with a BSc in Chemistry. He is responsible for spearheading our client helpdesk, and works within the administrative side of the business. In his own time, Andrew is a keen musician and music producer.
Tom joined the RM team in 2013 after graduating with a BSc in Multimedia Computing from Coventry University. As our in house IT technician, Tom ensures HASAD is always operational, and he’s constantly improving the IT process. He enjoys software development in his spare time.
Graham has been working with RM for many years. He has a wealth of M&E experience, having worked as an engineer for many leading M&E outfits throughout the UK.
Helen joined us in 2018 having had substantial prior experience in the asset management and property development sector. She ensures that the finance department operates effectively, with suppliers paid on 30 days or less and management accounts promptly generated every month.
