Manual Handling

Manual Handling is a serious subject that most companies don’t get to grip with.

The most recent data available shows 1.1 million people suffer from muscular injuries in the workplace annually and on average they are absent from work for 20 days, the law states “you must consider the risks from manual handling to the health and safety of your employees. If there are risks, the Regulations apply”. The regulations covering manual handling are The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, as amended in 2002 (‘the Regulations’) and apply to a wide range of manual handling activities, including lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling or carrying. The load may be either inanimate – such as a box or a trolley.
